(rule of thirds, get close, framing, triangles, diagonals, leading lines, contrast, figure/ground, center the dominant eye, pattern and repetition, focal point, symmetry, bird’s eye view, worm’s eye view) The rule of thirds can be seen in the photo because the focus is not in the middle.
Technical Aspects: Shutter Speed or Depth of Field- how is either manipulated in the image? The focal point are the pictures in my hand, and my arms and hands can be seen as leading lines to the pictures. This picture was also taken close up, becoming the foreground. The depth of field is manipulated by having my hands and pictures in the foreground, and my body is blurred in the background.
Are exposure, focus or blur manipulated? The focus is the pictures in my hands, and there is blur on my body in the background.
Does use of color or lighting impact the photo? The lighting is soft and helps keep the simplicity of the photo.
Post-processing/Editing- What edits in photoshop enhance or change the photo's meaning? By keeping the soft light and making sure there was no distracting background the photo was enhanced.
Narrative/Storytelling/Communication – What is conveyed about the person in the image? The photo conveys my growth and memories from childhood. In the portrait the photos show my background and my personality.
How is the “story” of the person conveyed? The story is of my life, and how I have grown and changed.
What props, clothing, setting or facial expression or body language communicate the IDENTITY (personality, interests, gender, background, culture, or history) of the person in the portrait? The clothing and facial expressions in the pictures in my hands show my background and personality.
Emotional Impact – What emotions captured in your portrait will cause the audience to respond? How is the emotional content conveyed? When looking at this photo, the audience will have flashbacks of old memories.
